Avril J. Vermunt

Avril Vermunt knows process development and biomanufacturing. As a globally experienced subject matter expert, she’s been praised by colleagues for her “brilliant organizational skills,” “right amount of toughness”, and “superhuman patience”. Back on Earth, Avril is based in Colorado, USA. She focuses on collaboration to deliver impactful engagement, digital awareness, and value-driven solutions. Currently she leads the MSAT organization at Adverum Bio, a clinical stage gene therapy company, and in recent years she has been a key member of Cytiva’s COVID-19 Task Force. Before joining Cytiva, Avril held roles in Amgen Process Development and Fujifilm Diosynth where she gained extensive experience in commercial and clinical manufacturing processes, as well as capital projects. Avril loves channeling her 20+ years of experience towards strategic partnerships with a focus on intensified processes to enable next generation manufacturing to improve patient accessibility & affordability. She has been an ISPE member since joining the student chapter at North Carolina State University, where she received her degree in Chemical Engineering. She also completed the Executive MBA program at the University of Colorado. She serves as the Facility of the Year Award (FOYA) global program chair.
