Benjamin Chia

Ben Chia is a Global Engineering & Maintenance Executive with over 24 years of pharmaceutical industry experience spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. He currently serves as Sanofi's Head of Global Engineering & Maintenance, Vaccines and Project Delivery, a role he’s held since 2022. In this role he leads a matrix organization of engineering professionals globally, overseeing 17 manufacturing sites worldwide, delivering major capital investments in the Americas, Asia, and Europe, while championing construction safety, sustainability, and end-to-end project delivery excellence. ? Prior to Sanofi, Ben spent nearly two decades at AstraZeneca living and working in multiple countries across the world including Canada, China, Australia, and the UK, in progressively senior engineering roles. Ben's career reflects a consistent record of delivering complex, large-scale capital portfolios and programs, including API, vaccines, small molecules, and commercial and R&D facilities. Ben holds a B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and a B.Sc. in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, both from the University of Toronto. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and an active member of ISPE.
