Bernhard Luy

Dr. Bernhard Luy (*1961), pharmacist (University of Freiburg / FU Berlin, Germany). Dr. Luy holds a PhD in Pharm. Technology from Basle University (1991, Prof. Hans Leuenberger).

With Glatt GmbH, a privately owned global technology and process equipment provider to the pharmaceutical industry in the area of Solid Dosage Forms, he had various responsibilities in pharmaceutical process development and general management over a period of 23 years(1987-2010).

His functions within Glatt included Head of Development (1991-1994), Head of the Technologies Dept. (1994-2001). In 2001 he became C.O.O. of the German Headquarters. In 2003, he was appointed Head of Glatt’s Business Unit for Solid Dosage Forms incl. various sites in Europe and overseas. In 2004, he took over the responsibility of the Swiss Site of Glatt as CEO, in addition he was Board Member of various Glatt Group companies and of the JV of Glatt with ACG, a major, globally active Indian equipment provider.

In 2010, Dr. Luy resigned from Glatt to found MERIDION Technologies, focusing on development and equipment supply related to a novel Freeze Drying technology.

Dr. Luy is author and co-author of patents and patent applications in the area of Solid Dosage Forms process technology, pharmaceutical product and formulation development, as well as in the area of freeze drying technologies, and author of various publications.
