Branden is passionate about delivering, high quality, safe and effective new therapies that will significantly improve patients’ lives. In pursuit of this passion, he has spent his career developing processes and products, starting with a PhD in protein formulation, manufacturing support, designing and building laboratories, pilot plants and manufacturing facilities and leading him to his current role. Some previous achievements have included serving as the lead author for the drug product section of a BLA, completing a pilot plant remodel, leading an owner’s rep team from conceptual through detailed design for a large part of API manufacturing facility, leading a team to execute the first GMP run at a small, startup CDMO and starting the build of a new team at Umoja. Currently, Branden is the head of the Manufacturing Science and Technology team at Umoja Biopharma where they are developing in vivo gene therapies that retool the patient’s immune system to treat a variety of cancers, including solid tumors. The responsibilities of the role combine process and analytical development, scale-up, tech-transfer, team building and new manufacturing facility design, construction and startup.
