Celia Lourenco holds a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Toronto, Canada, and is currently the Associate Assistant Deputy Minister of the Health Products and Food Branch of Health Canada. In this role, she provides strategic direction for the regulation of health products and food. Prior to this role, she was the Director General responsible for regulating biologic and radiopharmaceutical drugs at Health Canada from November 2018 to November 2022. She joined Health Canada in 2001 and has held several management and executive level positions in drug regulation since 2007. Celia was previously the vice-chair of the Assembly of the International Council for Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH) and co-chaired the COVID-19 working group at the International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Authorities. She engages with a variety of international regulatory authorities, including the partners under the Access Consortium, to work to advance drug regulation on a global scale.
