Eamon Judge, Past President of the ISPE Ireland Affiliate and Chair of the European Affiliate Council, started his career in biopharma by joining Lilly in 1980 with a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering degree (1st Hons). He subsequently moved into operations leadership and took on Director level responsibility for small molecule API operations and engineering/HSE/supply chain functional leadership at Lilly’s API site in Kinsale Ireland. He was based at Lilly’s US Headquarters in strategic planning and engineering leadership assignments during the 1990s and returned to Ireland to lead the operation of Lilly’s bulk aseptic manufacturing facilities. In the 2000’s Eamon had senior management responsibility for engineering, IT/process control and HSE during the addition of two large mammalian cell-culture API facilities. He was recently EMEA Leader in Lilly’s Global Engineering function with strategic planning responsibility for significant capital investments in Europe/Asia. His interest in sustainability is reflected in him proposing & leading the construction of Ireland’s largest private solar farm in 2020.
Eamon is an ISPE member for two decades and as Ireland Affiliate President, oversaw a 30% membership increase and built the foundation for strong academic relationships and thriving Emerging Leader and Women in Pharma® activities. He is program stream lead for the 2021 ISPE Annual Meeting and has been a program committee member for four other global events. He is a former Biotech CoP member. During his presidency, the Affiliate hosted three European/Global events and, jointly with BioPharmaChem Ireland, (BPCI – an Irish biopharma industry association), launched the IPMLF (Irish Pharma Manufacturing Leadership Forum) modelled on the successful GPMLF. Eamon represented Lilly for many years on the Council of BPCI. More recently he formed the COVID Alliance, an ISPE mobilisation of 50 Irish institutions/companies to successfully address societal needs during the pandemic.
He has been an external examiner for Munster Technological University and a Board of Management Chair for two educational institutions. He is passionate about helping young people –formerly as a scout Leader and as a student STEM coach for decades.
