Elizabeth McQuade

Senior Biosafety Officer, CURIS System

Elizabeth McQuade is the Senior Biosafety Officer for CURIS System. Prior, she was a Biocontainment Laboratory Coordinator at KSU’s Biosecurity Research Institute (BRI) in Manhattan, Kansas. McQuade’s responsibilities included high containment research space coordination and scheduling, acquiring and maintaining adequate supplies and PPE for operations, biohazard waste management and disposal, and decontamination of facility spaces and HEPA caissons utilizing multiple methods. McQuade has over ten years of research experience, starting as a Research Assistant in the Rabies Laboratory at the Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. While at the rabies lab, she focused on innovation and increasing efficiencies for international travel with companion animals and developing public health initiatives to increase awareness and accessibility of rabies serology for veterinary professionals. Her experience with an infectious zoonotic disease in a CLIA laboratory proved beneficial while transitioning to a high containment facility during the pandemic. McQuade is a member of ABSA, has co-written a published journal article for decontamination using hybrid hydrogen peroxide, and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Agribusiness.
