Gary is an experienced engineering leader with over 17 years biopharma industry experience. His current role is Built Environment and Sustainability Lead within Global Engineering at AstraZeneca where he is accountable for setting the technical direction for the company in his knowledge area and was contributory author to ISPE Baseline Guide: Oral Solid Dosage Form (3rd Edition). He has worked on numerous large capital biopharma projects delivering new assets across the world for AstraZeneca and his team provides technical support to the capital project portfolio.
Over the past 5 years he has led the Global Engineering sustainability improvement workstream that has set out minimum technical standards and established standardized sustainability key performance indicators for capital projects. He has been engaged in the AstraZeneca Ambition Zero Carbon programme since 2020 and was recognized with a CEO Award in 2021 for his work supporting this programme.
Gary is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), has a degree in electrical and electronics engineering from the University of Sunderland and has completed leadership course at the Oxford Saiid Business School.
