George Thomson

George joined Chapman Architects in 2019 and was recently promoted to Director, reflecting his broad experience delivering complex projects across London. He has particular expertise in high-end, mixed-use developments and has led significant sports projects for the University of Surrey and Harlequins Rugby. He has a strong track record of delivering technically complex schemes, leading multidisciplinary teams and managing projects from concept design through to completion. George works closely with contractors through RIBA Stages 4 and 5 to ensure programmes run smoothly and high-build quality is maintained. With substantial experience working with existing buildings, George specialises in the repositioning of assets, unlocking the potential of constrained Central London sites for contemporary use. His work balances sensitivity to context, with creativity, integrating sustainable design principles, energy-efficient strategies and responsible material choices, to deliver high-quality buildings that respond to both heritage and modern user requirements.
