Kara L. Swedberg

Kara Swedberg is an accomplished operations and facilities leader with more than 20 years of experience supporting biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and high-technology organizations. She currently serves as Executive Director of Operations at Neurocrine Biosciences, where she oversees facilities, environmental health and safety, corporate real estate, and office services across a large, multi-building campus. Her experience includes large-scale laboratory and office remodels, complex tenant improvements, and the development of a new 575,000-square-foot state-of-the-art research campus. Previously, Kara held senior leadership roles at Genentech and Amylin Pharmaceuticals, managing GMP and non-GMP facilities, multimillion-dollar operating and capital budgets, and cross-functional teams supporting mission-critical operations. She is a Certified Facility Manager, holds advanced certifications in corporate real estate and sustainability, and earned a Master’s degree in Organizational Behavior. Kara is a past President of the San Diego Chapter of IFMA and is passionate about strategic planning, operational excellence, and building environments that enable scientific innovation.
