Marcus Claassen has an international track record for technical investment projects. After his diploma thesis at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, supporting a new early research center project, he spent seven years with the technical investment and project management department at the company’s headquarters. Moving to Shanghai, China in 2014 he led the technical workstream of an OSD greenfield project in Nantong and managed the consecutive capacity expansion project and design for an adjacent logistics center as project lead. With a short stopover at the headquarters, leading a business case project looking into a make or buy strategy, he moved to Vevey, Switzerland where he led the implementation of the Merck Biotech Development Center Program with a total investment of more than 250 MEUR from 2019 to 2023. In his current role as Director Site Account Engineering, he supports several sites of the Global Healthcare Operations organization in all engineering aspects. Marcus is supporting the global initiatives for Smartfacturing / Lab-Digitalization, Robotics and Innovation technically and is the expert for large capex projects in his organization.
