Maria Elena Gasperini, WELL AP, is the Life Sciences Sustainability Director at Jacobs and has 25 years of experience in a wide variety of markets including Life Sciences, industrial, built environment and advanced facilities. She supports projects and companies in developing sustainability ESG strategies and targets, working on carbon neutrality, energy efficiency, waste minimization, water reduction and resources. On the Social aspect, she has developed and implemented a guidebook to embed Universal Design principles in project design as well as health and wellbeing principles. She is also an experienced WELL AP and obtained the first WELL certification in Italy in 2018 for the Jacobs headquarters in Milano. She is part of the board of the Green Building Council Italia since 2020, promoting design according to LEED, WELL and other green-building protocols (e.g. BREEAM and DGNB). She is also part of the Italian board of the #BuildingLife Initiative, promoted by the World Green-Building Council. She is supporting projects on sustainability aspects, developing strategies and targets, working on carbon neutrality, energy efficiency, waste minimization, water reduction and sustainable resources. With reference to green building certification, her experience covers pre-assessment during initial design phase, definition of sustainable strategy, coordination of design team and contractors, LEED and WELL Administration. Maria Elena has successfully developed with her team LEED, BREEAM and WELL certification for major projects in both the pharmaceutical and building sectors. She is active member of the board of the Green Building Council Italia, promoting design according to LEED and WELL and other green-building protocols (e.g. BREEAM and DGNB).
