Mike McDermott is the President of Pfizer Global Supply. In this role, he has oversight for all internal and external manufacturing and supply chain activities for Pfizer.
Mike has more than 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and has held positions in all aspects of supply operations, as well as assignments in Marketing and Finance. He joined legacy Wyeth in 1989 and began his career in Pearl River, New York as a Project Engineer in product packaging. Mike returned to Pearl River in 2003 as the site’s Managing Director for Vaccines manufacturing and assumed the role of Vice President of Site Operations in 2007. With Pfizer’s acquisition of Wyeth in 2009, Mike became leader of the Consumer Healthcare Operating Unit, and in 2012 was named Vice President of the Biotechnology Operating Unit. In 2014, Mike assumed the role of Vice President Global Supply Chain overseeing supply chain, distribution and external supply.
In 2018, Mike assumed his current role. Most recently, together with the PGS team worldwide, Mike has led the ramp-up, manufacturing and global distribution of the Pfizer-BioNTech COIVD-19 vaccine; and leads the continued efforts to enhance COVID-19 vaccine production and distribution processes to bring even more vaccines to people in need.
Mike holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Industrial Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark, N.J. He served as an adjunct professor at NJIT and, in 2007, was named a distinguished alumnus by the NJIT Alumni Association.
Mike is on the Executive Committee of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and is a member of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Forum. Passionate about the community, he served for ten years on the Board of Directors of People to People, a non-profit organization whose mission is to help underserved residents in New York State.
Mike resides in New Jersey with his wife and five daughters.
