Stephen (Steve) Crowley is currently an Associate Principal Scientist in Oral Formulation Sciences at Merck. As a member of a dynamic, driven team responsible for the development of orally bioavailable compounds for the treatment of various diseases, Steve has successfully enabled rapid advancement of novel treatments into clinical trials. Previously he was an Engineer at Celgene (now Bristol Myers Squibb) where he focused on drug product process development and scale up. He has also worked as a material scientist and analytical chemist at Sun Chemical and Takeda Pharmaceuticals. There statistical analyses such as PCA and cluster analysis were routinely used to drive decisions for the improvement of products. He holds bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and math from the College of the Holy Cross and a doctorate in chemical engineering from the City College of New York where his thesis work focused on the dynamics of bimetallic precious metal catalysts used in the steam reforming of oxygenated fuels.
