Thomas Kelz

Thomas Kelz is Sustainability Manager at Takeda's manufacturing site in Vienna. He is responsible for the site's sustainability portfolio, decarbonization roadmap, and environmental performance programs, helping to integrate sustainability into manufacturing operations and infrastructure projects. Over the past years, Thomas has supported the development and implementation of more than 100 sustainability and decarbonization initiatives. These include innovative industrial projects such as high-temperature heat pumps, renewable energy systems, circular economy solutions, and resource efficiency programs. Several of Takeda Vienna's sustainability projects have gained international recognition, including presentations at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), where the site's decarbonization achievements were recognized through the Net Zero Industries Award. Thomas is passionate about connecting sustainability, technology, and operational excellence. Through cross-functional collaboration, digital innovation, and partnerships with academia and industry, he helps translate ambitious climate targets into measurable environmental and business impact while advancing the transition toward sustainable and carbon net-zero pharmaceutical manufacturing.
