Digital technology is bringing a significant disruption in aseptic manufacturing and packaging for personalized healthcare. Medical treatments will be tailored to the needs of individuals and small groups of patients; correspondingly, first-in-class production technology will be small, flexible, clonable and scalable. Direct human intervention shall be excluded wherever feasible. This presentation will show how recent advances in robotics, cameras, and new Artificial Intelligence algorithms allow a reliable inspection and classification of products, providing real innovation, and can be adapted to a diverse portfolio of drug product classifications even globally distributed through a common cloud platform for continuous knowledge improvement. Stevanato Group has developed, in cooperation with F. Hoffmann-La Roche, a vision unit proving the concept of a modular, robotic system to inspect personalized medicines. With artificial intelligence, it was feasible to arrive at an autonomous island mini-plant, capable of fully automated inspection without human intervention under dark and cold conditions. Track & Trace options, AQL sampling and manual re-inspection are managed automatically at a single item level and tray level. As a result of this session participants will learn more about latest developments in robotics and AI applied to pharma inspection and will get technical insights through real data.
