The exponential increase in demand to manufacture vaccines triggered by the pandemic has stressed the supply chain for single-use products. The Disposables Community of Practice of ISPE initiated and coordinated a round table program to share experiences and highlight solutions that could help the industry.
The round table program consisted of industry participants arranged in eight groups. Each group discussed a specific key topic of concern to the biopharmaceutical industry.
These included: • Bottleneck mapping • Like-for-like guidelines • Harmonization/standardization of designs • Harmonization of materials • Manufacture of key components under license • Supplier & end-user relationship • Scope & Pro/Cons of multi-sourcing • Change control management
Many ideas were exchanged. Successful solutions in overcoming specific aspects of the crisis were shared. Potential root causes and solutions to improve supply chain efficiency were identified. Immediate actions and long-term strategies for SUT were discussed.
The presentation will detail the results of the round table program with specific information that was shared and that may help you overcome difficulties with your manufacturing operations.
This presentation will point out the ideas/recommendations to be prepared in beginning of single-use project(s) in order to ensure business continuity in further operational phase to avoid challenges to implement afterwards.
