Marten Ritz

Marten Ritz is heading the Research Group Operational Excellence at the Institute of Technology Management , University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. He joined the institute in 2018 and works underthe supervision of Prof. Dr. Thomas Friedli. In this role, Marten supports numerous pharmaceutical companies in continuously improving operations as well as launching/maintaining sufficient Production Systems, KPI strategies and Quality Metrics programs. Besides that, Marten is leading the institute’s activities in the sectors OTC drugs manufacturing and Personal Care products. Marten was heavily involved in the St.Gallen FDA Quality Metrics Research and is leading the on-going FDA funded study to baseline Pharmaceutical Quality Management in collaboration with Dun&Bradstreet. His academic research focusses on aligning OPEX initiatives across manufacturing and QC labs in pharmaceutical production. Marten holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and a M.Sc. in Production Engineering with focus on Corporate Optimization from RWTH Aachen University (Germany). Prior to joining the University of St.Gallen, he researched at Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) and worked in process engineering as well as lean optimization with automotive and chemical companies.
