Georg Singewald is Vice President, Global Quality Control at Genentech, a Member of the Roche Group, based in South San Francisco, CA. Georg’s career has spanned the globe providing him operational experiences in Europe, Asia-Pacific and the US and exposing him to many different cultures. Throughout his career, Georg has been leading many continual improvement initiatives and he demonstrated leadership, creativity and collaboration in delivering multiple transformations. In his current role at Genentech, Georg is driving digital and organizational transformation towards an agile fit-for-future Quality Control Sites-network organization. These initiatives are aimed at in- and at-line release, network wide automated and integrated systems, and systems for personalized medicines, cell and gene therapies. Georg’s experience includes Site and Regional Quality- and Operations- Roles such as Managing Director of Pharmanalytica SA in Switzerland, responsible for the full operations of the Site, Quality Site Head with Sandoz Microparticles sterile manufacturing in Austria, and Regional Quality Head roles with Novartis in Singapore covering Asia-Pacific and the Middle East with responsibility over internal Sites and CMO portfolios.
Georg is an active ISPE member, having engaged in various ISPE Affiliates and Chapters over the years organizing talent development and workforce of the future sessions, and chairing tracks at various ISPE conferences, including the ISPE Biotech Conference 2020, Singapore Conference 2020 & Asia Pacific Conference 2021. He served as the Regulatory Chair in the ISPE Singapore Affiliate in 2017/2018, where he was awarded “Friends of ISPE Singapore” in 2019 recognizing his continuous support to the APAC region. He is actively engaging in working groups of industry trade associations (PhRMA, EFPIA) in the areas of Quality and Compliance topics. His expertise has been called upon for regulator training on GMP topics. An Austrian national, Georg holds an MSc degree in Pharmacy, a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Innsbruck, and an Executive MBA in Supply Chain Management from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology - ETH. He is also an approved EU Qualified Person.
