Global Technical Lead, Architecture / HVAC, Genentech Inc

Since September 2005, Doug has been part of the Global Engineering organization for Genentech. He provides management and technical leadership in the architectural, electrical, mechanical, and civil/structural disciplines for the design, construction, and qualification of capital facility projects around the world. He is currently responsible for developing and implementing design standards for various facility types, with a focus on cost effective and sustainable engineering solutions.

Previously, as Manager of Architecture at Jacobs in Cincinnati, Doug led design teams in the conceptual development through construction support of pharmaceutical-related projects. Prior to Jacobs, he was a project architect at various architectural firms focused on commercial facilities.

Doug has over 36 years of professional practice in architectural engineering design for pharmaceutical manufacturing, laboratory, chemical, medical, commercial, and residential projects. He has extensive experience providing programming, master planning, design, and construction support for multiple pharmaceutical clients, including Genentech, Roche, Wyeth, Eli Lilly, Abbott, Genzyme, BioMarin, Amgen, Pfizer, and Bayer. He also periodically presents and contributes to publications, as well as initiatives, for organizations such as BioPhorum, CLSA (formerly BayBio), ASHRAE, ISPE, CoreNet, and Keck Graduate Institute. Doug is a licensed architect in several states, with a B.Arch degree from the University of Cincinnati.
