Mr. Paul WF Rutten

Paul Rutten is a partner of McKinsey & Company in Amsterdam, where he has worked since 1998. Paul leads McKinsey's Pharmaceutical Operations Practice with a focus on Quality, Compliance and Remediation. . Paul has led many large-scale transformation programs for leading international pharmaceutical companies. His work has resulted in significant quality, productivity and lead-time improvements across the industry. Paul sponsors McKinsey’s Pharmaceutical Operations Benchmarking in Quality (POBOS) and leads McKinsey’s involvement with the ISPE Quality Metrics initiative. He holds a M.Sc. in Applied Physics from the Delft University of Technology and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, where he graduated with honors and majored in Pharmaceuticals and Biotech. Paul is the lead editor of the book “Flawless”, that describes how the pharmaceutical industry can move from measuring failure to building quality robustness. In his spare time, Paul enjoys thinking through quality improvements in other sectors, for example in schools, hospitals or the public sector.
